Department of Economics of Bokaro Steel City College, Bokaro was founded in 1978.

It introduces students to the basics of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, quantitative techniques and other specialised areas like Public Finance, International Trade, Money and Financial Markets, and Indian Economy. The department is credited with highly dynamic and meritorious group of faculty, along with a vibrant and active student council, which regularly organizes seminars, lectures etc, giving ample opportunity to students to contribute positively to the department. Graduates can pursue a Masters course in the subject or opt for direct placement in several corporate and governmental organisations.

This revised syllabus, addressing today's dynamic circumstances, acquaints students with Hindi writing spread over a thousand years and also instructs them in language teaching, translation and writing for the mass media. Apart from pursuing a Masters, a graduate in the subject can opt for further education in teacher's training, mass communication or enter fields like journalism and translation. The Faculty here comprises experienced academicians dedicated to the cause of teaching.

Department of Philosophy of Bokaro Steel City College, Bokaro was founded in 1981

The Department offers Philosophy as a main subject in B.A. Programme . For other Honours students the Department offers four Generic Elective courses. The courses cover important milestone in the development of Logic, Ethics, Indian Philosophy, Western Philosophy, Greek Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Socio-Political Philosophy and Feminism among many. Students can be benefited from the rigor of the subject and develop intellectual potential and high analytical ability. Some of the possible avenues that can be explored on the basis of this initiation in the subject are M.A. in Philosophy, Entrepreneurship, Civil Services and other related competitive exams.
